A company that has been offering email marketing services since 2015, Constant Contact has managed to become one of the most used email tools by small businesses today. With over half a million customers, Constant Contact is definitely one of the most popular choices today.

For those who are not familiar with Constant Contact, the company helps businesses reach new audiences, as well as drive more business in less time with the use of email marketing automation tools, surveys, and social campaigns.

More than 95% of consumers check their email daily so you want to use emails as one of your go-to marketing tools if you want to compete with other businesses and increase revenue. Neglecting emails will affect your business negatively and as a business owner, you definitely want to explore this tool because it can deliver as much as $38-for-$1 return on investment.

There are plenty of other email marketing platforms out there and when Constant Contact is compared with them, you can see that they have a pretty high price tag of $45 per month. However, other tools do have a cap on the number of messages you can send in a month, whereas Constant Contact doesn’t.

They are also looking towards expanding their features beyond email and following closely on the tracks of MailChimp. Just last year alone, they have added an array of features that included personalization, segmentation, integration, and marketing automation.

Although Constant Contact has a 60-day trial, there is no free option as opposed to other email marketing services.

With Constant Contact’s Autorepsonders, it is very easy to create a series of personalized and automated emails that can be sent automatically based on different triggers. Emails can be automated such as welcome messages to new subscribers, as well as birthday and anniversary emails to existing subscribers.

Email Editor

When clicking “Create Email”, you have the option to add your website. Constant Contact will then scrub your website to find your brand’s color, logo, and social media accounts and adds them to your email. The next thing to do is pick a template and edit it using drag-and-drop tools. There is also a video in the editor that plays automatically when it’s your first time using it. Creating and sending an email takes less than 10 minutes and you won’t be wasting your effort because the emails go directly to the right inboxes, and not to the “spam” or “promotions” folder.

Customer Support

Constant Contact offers several resources to help users. Aside from their extensive videos and knowledge base, they also have chat and phone support. Representatives are helpful without being pushy too.

Email Templates

There are dozens of email templates to choose from in the library. Each template is reusable and built for both mobile and desktop use. Templates can be easily customized with your brand’s logo, colors, and images.

No Advanced Automation

Surprisingly, although there are premium charges, Constant Contact does not offer advanced automation. There are other much cheaper alternatives out there that offer similar levels of automation.

Subscriber List Creation

Subscribers can be easily added by manually typing addresses into a form, uploading files in different formats such as TXT, CSV, XLSX, and XLS, importing from Gmail, or pulling contacts from Microsoft Outlook and other CRM tools.

Constant Contact lets you assign contacts that are valuable if you need to track things. It is also possible for users to create segments based on interests, location, and other information collected from contacts.

However, users say that it can be a pain to edit user records. Editing cannot be done from the main list of contacts. You can only edit contacts by loading each record and updating the corresponding fields. The best way to avoid this is to have a spreadsheet with the complete information.

Campaign Tracking

After sending your newsletters, the next thing you want to do is to track your success and this can be easily done by going to the “Reporting” tab. Displayed on the dashboard are the basics, such as bounces, click-throughs, as well as unsubscribe requests.

There is a video tutorial that walks users through what the reports mean and a wealth of information about the improving open rate and crafting engaging subject lines.
